This Socialist Realist painting shows Russian workers in the fields and has a striking front-on angle with a pretty foreground of flowers and grass. 

Socialist Realism is a form of modern realism imposed in Russia by Stalin following the death of Lenin in 1924. They are rigorously optimistic pictures of Soviet life.
